home (ostatic)

For neuroscientist, Antonio Damasio, the brain should be understood not as a command control centre but rather as a balancing device that operates through negative feedback – much like a thermostat – to maintain a certain homeostatic balance. But could interactive architecture also help? This paper makes connections between neuroscience, cyborg studies and interactive design to explore the possibility that interactive ‘home’ might also serve to enhance the home (ostatic) wellbeing of the body.
